Jeff of the A.D.D. Mind had an idea for an ADD cartoon this morning. I tweaked it a bit and this is what resulted.
You can imagine what hyperfocus does for writing a punchline. Like dining on peanuts and potato chips and most anything else, it’s hard to stop with one bite. I’m constantly rewriting.
The idea behind this cartoon is that an ADDer might have trouble making a choice, or taking that first step — in this case selecting which sort of nut to begin with. So a can of mixed nuts with only one nut. A fine example of simplifying your lifestyle.
But then, in the course of rewriting, I dropped the S from the word nuts:
Now the Easy Choice punchline doesn’t make sense. Now the can’s label seems to be referring to the consumer, not the consumed. And how do you feel about it? Good-natured self-deprecation, or insult?
